Welcome to the Housing Element Update webpage for the City of Fortuna. While the Housing Element is one part of the City’s broader General Plan, it follows its own update process and timeline established by California State law. The Housing Element focuses specifically on housing needs, opportunities, and programs that support existing and future residents, while the General Plan addresses a wider range of topics such as land use, transportation, public safety, conservation, and community development. Throughout this process, the City looks forward to hearing from community members, local organizations, and stakeholders to better understand local housing needs and priorities. The City also works closely with the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to ensure the Housing Element meets state requirements while reflecting Fortuna’s unique character, values, and vision for the future.
